Sunday, August 1, 2010 Crews were dispatched to assist on a reported vehicle accident with fire at the intersection of Sunset Ave and S State St in Ephrata Borough. As units responded, County Communications advised that PD was on scene with a working vehicle fire with all passengers out and one patient with a head injury. Units arrived to find a car fully involved against a utility pole. The pole was found to be damaged but still holding all wires. The spreading fire was quickly knocked down and extinguished. The vehicle was opened and it was confirmed that all visible fire was extinguished. Crews backed away and controlled the area due to concern of the damaged pole and wires. Once it was confirmed that there was no longer a danger from fire the vehicle was towed and the scene was turned over to PD and public works.
