Thursday, January 19, 2012 It is with deep regret  that the members of the Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company inform you of the passing of long time member and past Fire Chief Art Mellinger. For those who did not know Art he was a past Chief and respected member of this organization and the community who served with distinction for years and brought a wealth of knowledge and a level of compassion for all to follow.  Those of us lucky enough to of know Art will hopefully take his many excellent life thoughts and qualities that he shared with us and incorporate them into our own lives and Company. Art was one of the influencing factors that have built this Company into what can be seen here today.  With out the guidance and lesson from Chief Mellinger the Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company would not be the source of pride in membership and family of brotherhood that it is.  New or seasoned, young or old, known or unknown, those that met Art knew they were welcome.  Through his career and involvement with the Pioneers Art never stopped teaching or offering guidance.  He will be missed by all members and will forever be a great example of community service and dedication.
